There are 3 main types of cabinets, Frameless, Framed Overlay and Framed Inset. Any door style can be used with each of the types but some styles fit better with certain types. The three main kitchen styles are Modern, Contemporary, and Classic. There are of course many sub categories. The possible cabinet finishes are stain or clear on wood, paint on wood, paint on MDF, wood veneers, and non wood veneers. The veneers are mostly associated with a slab door in the modern style.

Frameless

Any of the kitchen styles can be done in a frameless cabinet. The modern style with a slab door is always done in a frameless cabinet.
